Hiring: Equipment Operator

You will be responsible for operating machinery and general labouring.


Position Duties

Main duties will consist of but not be limited to;

•    Machinery operation;
•    General Labour;
•    Participate in professional development of updating and maintaining industry knowledge and licences required to perform the duties of an Equipment Operator.
•    Completing vehicle pre-start checks;
•    Accurately complete SWMS and implement control measures to suit the site;
•    Obey instructions from crew leaders, foreman, managers, auditors or officials;
•    Care and maintenance of Equipment at the end of shift;
•    Cleaning vehicles at the end of shift;
•    Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the company and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others;
•    Observation and reporting of any concerns or safety risks to Andrew Hazell.


Conditions of Work
•    The majority of work is outdoors in all weather conditions.
•    Work is also performed under conditions that may expose staff to dust, smoke, electricity, rail traffic, loud noise and uneven footing and other associated work site conditions.
•    You will be required to wear the appropriate PPE such as hi visibility company logo vests, hard hats, sunscreen, ear protection and safety glasses.


Skills and attribute requirements

•    Must demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate, by radio, telephone and in person.
•    The position requires regular physical manual effort. You will be required to operate machinery for 8 to 10 hours per day, regardless of weather conditions.
•    Must be able to repeatedly lift 15 – 20 kg.
•    Must be able to manage own time and scheduled required breaks without impeding safety on the site.
•    Ability to operate in a team environment and assist all team members in the performance of their duties. You will be required to work closely with co-workers to ensure the safe management of work zones for all Spectran customers.
•    Willingness and capacity to implement required health and safety policies and procedures.
•    Ability and capacity to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the safety management system.
